The Central Florida Scottish Highland Games are returning to Central Winds Park in Winter Springs on January 17–18, 2026, bringing with them centuries of Scottish tradition and a weekend full of cultural experiences, athletics, music, and food.
Hosted by the Scottish-American Society of Central Florida, this event has become a local favorite, celebrating Scottish heritage through pipe bands, clan gatherings, highland dancing, and iconic athletic competitions like the caber toss and hammer throw.
Reflecting on Last Year’s Experience
In 2025, the Games drew record crowds, which brought both excitement and some logistical challenges. Attendees noted large crowds, long lines for food and restrooms, limited parking, and difficulty navigating the grounds without a paid map. For many, the size of the event made it difficult to enjoy all of the attractions.
This year, organizers are expected to accommodate large attendance again, and returning visitors should plan ahead to make the most of their experience.

Tips for First-Time Attendees
If you’re planning to attend this year’s event, here are a few helpful tips:
- Be Prepared for Noise: With multiple attractions happening at once and large crowds, it can be difficult to hear announcements or live music unless you’re close to the stage or band areas.
- Arrive Early: Parking fills up quickly. Expect to walk a short distance from your vehicle to the entrance.
- Bring Cash: Entry is cash-only at the gate. Some vendors may also prefer or only accept cash.
- Get a Map: The layout of the games spans across a large park. Purchasing a map or checking the event website ahead of time can help you find key attractions more easily.
- Plan for Lines: Lines for food, drinks, bathrooms, and popular activities like axe throwing can be long during peak hours.
- Stake Out a Spot: Events like the caber toss and tug-of-war draw large crowds. Arrive early to get a good view.
A Community Tradition Worth Attending

They offer a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in Scottish heritage right here in Central Florida. From bagpipes and tartans to meat pies and family-friendly activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Whether you’re attending for the first time or returning for another year, a little preparation can help ensure you have a memorable and enjoyable experience.
