Community Meeting with Howell Creek Reserve HOA on August 27

On Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 6:30 PM, I’ll be attending a community meeting with the Howell Creek Reserve Community Association at the Wedgewood Tennis Villas Clubhouse (1401 Forest Hills Drive, Winter Springs).

This conversation will include residents from both Eagles Watch and Howell Creek Reserve, and I want to thank the HOA Board of Directors for extending the invitation and sharing their concerns in advance.

Here’s a preview of the topics we’ll be discussing together:

1. Flooding from Jetta Point and Cross Seminole Trail

The HOA has documented stormwater flooding on their property caused by runoff from Seminole County-managed areas like Jetta Point and the Cross Seminole Trail. While the Howell Creek Basin Study is underway, I’ll continue advocating for County-led mitigation efforts and communication with the City and affected residents.

2. Stormwater Credits and Cost-Sharing

The City currently grants a 25% reduction in the stormwater portion of monthly water bills to this gated HOA because it maintains its own infrastructure. With rising rates, the Board is asking the City to revisit this credit and consider an increase, based on the HOA’s documented maintenance costs.

3. Howell Creek Bank Erosion

Additional concerns include increased runoff into Howell Creek and resulting erosion behind homes on Nandina Terrace. This is an issue we need to examine further to assess long-term risks and any city or county-level responses.

4. Development Interest on SR 434

The Board has also asked to stay informed about the future of the vacant land across from the Speedway gas station on SR 434. As discussions emerge, I support involving adjacent neighborhoods in those conversations early and transparently.

This is a great opportunity to work together on real challenges facing this neighborhood. Your feedback, documentation, and continued communication are essential to achieving long-term solutions.
