Winter Springs Announces Citywide Fire Hydrant Inventory and Inspection Initiative

In our continuous effort to safeguard our community and enhance our city’s infrastructure, Winter Springs Utilities is set to embark on an extensive citywide fire hydrant inventory and inspection initiative, beginning April 8, 2024. This proactive measure underscores our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and service efficiency for all residents.

Contractors representing our city will meticulously inspect and inventory all 1,200 public fire hydrants, confirming they are maintained and functioning correctly. This operation will involve opening hydrants to test flow rates and pressure, ensuring accurate cataloging and readiness in emergencies.

Inspections are scheduled from Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., to minimize disruption to our community’s daily life. Residents will be kept informed about the inspection schedule through our official website www.winterspringsfl.org, eAlert notifications, and updates on our social media platforms.

We understand that this essential maintenance work may lead to temporary water discoloration for some residents. Should you experience any discoloration, we advise running the cold-water faucet for several minutes or until the water clears.

This initiative is a part of our broader mission to ensure Winter Springs remains a safe, efficient, and resilient community. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we perform this vital work, further reinforcing our infrastructure and preparedness for the future.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for your continued trust and support.
